Watches don’t stay on your wrist to tell time anymore. It’s all about making an impression and Roger Dubuis is no stranger in that department; hence the collaboration with Pirelli, the leader in high-end tyre production. The partnership brings you the Excalibur Spider Pirelli, under the ‘Dare to be Rare’ umbrella.
You’ll find a choice of red and yellow skeleton flange on the dial, taking the centre stage on the Excalibur Spider Pirelli model. The indexes are plated with rhodium and filled with white luminous SLN. The black PVD hands contain 18K gold with red transfer and white luminous SLN on the tips.
They are all protected by a 45mm-diametre titanium black DLC case, which is fluted with a titanium black DLC bezel that comes with tone on tone markings. The crown, however, possesses the same materials as the bezel, but is over-moulded with an additional red rubber.
Of course, the glass is made from sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, so you can easily catch the time under bright lighting. The watch has an overall thickness of 14.02mm, held together by a Pirelli strap made with the brand’s tyre rubber inlay with red stitching and bi-material strap with black rubber base. Limited to only 88 pieces worldwide, this watch has a self-winding mechanical calibre with a micro-rotor adjusted finely in six positions. It can reserve power up to 60 hours.
Roger Dubuis’ collaboration with Pirelli also serves up another two models: the Excalibur Spider Double Flying Tourbillion (limited to only 28 pieces worldwide), and the Excalibur Spider Automatic Skeleton. They share similar characteristics with the Excalibur Spider Pirelli and most importantly, they’ll look phenomenal on your wrist too.
