After winning back-to-back titles in 2015 and 2016 in the FIA World Endurance Championship, Porsche Motorsports LMP1 is on track for another great year. In June, the team won the prestigious Le Mans 24-hour endurance (for the third successive year, in fact). Then, in July, Porsche Motorsports secured first and second place at the Six Hours of Nürburgring 2017 race. And just a few days ago, Porsche repeated the feat when Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley and Earl Bamber claimed the chequered flag at the Six Hours of Mexico 2017 race, followed by teammates Neel Jani, André Lotterer and Nick Tandy – both in their Porsche 919 Hybrid cars. With four races left for the year, the Porsche Motorsports LMP1 team leads the manufacturer’s competition with a commanding 56.5-point lead.
Chopard is the team’s official timing partner, and at Mexico City, the Maison premiered the Chopard Superfast Power Control Porsche 919 HF Edition timepiece. With only 100 pieces manufactured, the watch is powered by the Chopard calibre 01.11-M self-winding movement, which operates at an astounding 8Hz frequency, and has a 60-hour power reserve. The 45mm-sized chronometer is made of beadblasted titanium and reinforced with black DLC treatment. It is also water-resistant up to 100 metres, boasts 37 jewels, and has Super-Luminova-enhanced hours and minute hands, as well as hour markers. At 3 o’clock is the date indicator, while at 9 o’clock is the power-reserve indicator. The Chopard Superfast Power Control Porsche 919 HF Edition is available exclusively at Chopard boutiques.
