Before you get too excited, this doesn't mean you have a convenient way to sit send your friends cat gifs whilst pretending it's work. The new Facebook for Work platform has a separate log-in and interface and will more likely just mean surrendering more information to the data giants and spending your entire life on "the book."
Facebook for Work has a bespoke News Feed for your company and allows instant messaging between your colleagues, useful for delegating tasks, or the tea round.
The aim is for Facebook to replace workplace messaging programs like Google Hangout or Slack and connect offices seamlessly. Another step in their plan for global domination.
Explaining the merits of the new platform, Facebook said: "Companies find that they can eliminate or drastically reduce their need for internal collaboration tools such as their intranet, telephony systems, video conferencing and distribution lists. Use News Feed to stay updated, join groups to collaborate, send messages and get notifications about what's most relevant to you."
Facebook did in fact soft-launch the platform in January of last year and one of the biggest adopters was RBS who have more than 100,000 employees now using it.
Will integrating work and social media mean you're more on top of things that ever? Maybe. What's more likely is your phone notifications will now never cease.
