Amidst the dull announcements of wireless headphones and dual-lens cameras, there was at least one interesting and pleasant surprise from Apple's big unveiling event, and that was that Super Mario is going to be getting his very own iPhone game.
After the enormous, albeit brief, success of Pokemon Go, Nintendo is finally bringing its big hitter into the now enormous IOS gaming market, with an original title named Super Mario Go set to be released in December.
The game will be available for a fixed price with, thankfully, no in-app purchases, and will feature both a classic run-to-the-flag mode like Marios of old, as well as a battle mode, where you will be able to fight against friends and other players online.
Speaking at the event yesterday, Shigeru Miyamoto, the brain behind the reckless plumber said: "The magic of Mario is anyone can pick up and start playing, and now we've made it even easier.
"You can play it one handed, while you're holding onto the handle on the subway, while eating a hamburger, or even an Apple." (Very clever Mr Miyamoto, very clever.)
If you're an Android user (our condolences) then unfortunately you're going to have wait a little while longer, as a launch date has yet to be announced.
