The Future of Footwear is Hybrid
Tod's No_Code presents the Shoeker

As a challenge to the notions of dress codes and a testament to the luxury of technology and experimentation, Tod’s created their No_Code innovation workshop back in November. Dedicated to probing the boundaries of technology and the “rules” we abide by in fashion, it aimed to “buoy up” the human spirit. Whether or not an item of footwear can do this is not yet officially known, however there is no denying Tod’s use of fine quality Italian leather craftsmanship and unique manipulation of materials in these designs. The concept : the marriage of the shoe and sneaker to create the Shoeker. It suggests the style of a shoe with the comfort and ease of a pair of sneakers.
The introduction of the Shoeker paved the way for the creation of the Shoeker/02. With a design emphasising fluidity over coded rigidity, the Shoeker/02 has a sole made from a special blend of expanded rubber that is meant to stabilise “every step” taken by the wearer.
Created by Yong Bae Seok, an industrial design graduate from Seoul’s Hansung University, who combined lightweight leather with neoprene (a material commonly used for scuba suits) for the shoe’s uppers. Two materials not typically used together. It’s calming to know that regardless of the many roads life may take you on, with a pair of Shoekers, you’ll (quite literally) be able to navigate your way through it with a sense of agility balance. Although Tod’s may be known for their signature leather loafers and classic suede gommini’s, the brands direction with No_Code is certainly refreshing and opens the brand to a whole new clientele.
