Yep, That's An Erect Schlong On A Jacket

Raf Simons is one of menswear's most respected designers. And that status affords him some special opportunities, like collaborating with similarly well-regarded artists ranging from Peter Saville to Sterling Ruby to David Sims. For his latest partnership—which debuted today at his spring 2017 show in Florence, Italy—Simons chose late American photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, known for his raw, provocative photos, oftentimes focused on the nude male anatomy.
Perhaps it shouldn't come as a surprise, then, that one of Simons's new jackets has a stark, uncensored shot of an erect penis printed on the back:

Shocking? Perhaps. But this is far from the first time an uncovered dick has made its way into the men's-fashion landscape. Fellow Belgian designer Walter van Beirendonck debuted penis-printed underwear nearly twenty years ago. John Barlett sent a couple of nude dudes down the catwalk in 2002. And just last year the dark lord of fashion, Rick Owens, had models walk the runway wearing tunics specifically designed to let their junk flop freely.
So, are we in the midst of some sort of slow-burning penis revolution in menswear? Or is it just a photo of a boner on a jacket? Well, maybe both (and definitely the latter). And while some, we're sure, will balk at the design, the fact of the matter is that it's a form of artistic expression, whether you like it or not. You know what they say: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder [of the boner]."
Just don't wear the thing to meet your girlfriend's parents for the first time. Oh, and stay away from schools.
