Joining in the elite circuit of fashion week events in New York, London, Paris & Milan, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur (MBFWKL) sets the stage for this illustrious event as the first in Malaysia and South East Asia under the banner of Mercedes-Benz. The inaugural MBFWKL brings together the biggest names in local, regional and international fashion circles.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia also presents the MBFWKL 2018 Fashion Futures Design Competition at the Gala Night – a new, independent competition that will be held yearly as a key component of the show. Targeting Malaysian designers with six months to four years work experience in the fashion industry, five finalists are required to produce four sets of original Ready-to-Wear looks based on a specific theme provided.

Francis Libiran is a Filipino architect and fashion designer. He studied architecture at the University of Santo Tomas before pursuing a course in fashion design at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines. His love for travel, nature, architecture, and patterns is very apparent in his creations. Some of his signature design techniques include art deco cutouts and patterns, custom laser-cut materials, intricate embellishments and custom embroidery. Being in the business for more than 2 decades, Francis Libiran is now considered as one of the Philippine's premier fashion designers specializing on custom-made and ready-to-wear wedding gowns, evening gowns, dresses, menswear, corporate wear, and accessories.

In the annals of Singapore fashion, Thomas Wee stands among the greats. Self-taught and continuously creative, Wee has been build a distinctive style for close to forty years now. Coming into public notice in 1978 when he was a finalist in the first Young Fashion Designer Contest organized by Her World magazine, he has since been part of many milestones that forged to place Singapore on the world fashion map: as part of the “The Magnificent Seven”, selected by the Trade Development Board to exhibit and showcase Singapore designs in Tokyo and Osaka in 1980 and Paris in 1981 and 1982. He has represented our city in ‘The Best of Asian Designers’, ‘The Best of Best’ and ‘The Premier Designer Show’ throughout much of the Eighties. Wee has continually been invited to present his collections and has shown in major Asian cities during their respective fashion weeks.
A life dedicated to inspire and be inspired by women seems to be a predestined matter for Sebastian Gunawan. From mere hobby, this talent was then honed by a degree in fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles. The glamorous air of Hollywood seems to be a starting point for his design inspirations, something that was later honed at Milan's famed Instituto Morangoni. After finishing his formal education, he then came back to Indonesia to establish his own label under ‘SEBASTIANGUNAWAN’ in 1993. In the same year represented Indonesia at the prestigious "Young Fashion Designers Contest". His distinctive style was later recognized internationally when he received the First Award at the "International Apparel Federation World Young Designer Award 2004" in Barcelona, Spain. A year later he was invited to show his collection at "Moda in 3D" in Rome, Italy.

Graduating with great recommendation from Esmod Paris in 2001, Priyo Oktaviano started his grand fashion adventure at the House of Balenciaga in Paris. Working in a couture house didn't hinder the talented designer from pursuing his own name. Priyo was a finalist in the prestigious Concours CISEAUX WIZO au Bains Douches-Paris and Concours Jeunes Createurs 2001 Pronuptia Paris. In 2002, he was awarded the 4th Place in the European Competition for Textile and Fashion Design of the Region APOLDA 2002-Germany and won 1st place in the exchange designer category. In 2008, he joined Yayasan Cita Tenun Indonesia, an organization committed to preserve as well as to develop the heritage of Indonesian woven textiles. Priyo's modern sense of style brings everything to a whole new dimension, his collections are bright and trendy with unusual cutting and silhouettes.
Tube Gallery has been established as a new generation Thai fashion house since 1999. The edgy and prolific Tube Gallery is made up of two dynamic designers Saksit Pisalasupongs and Phisit Jongnarangsin, who have made waves in the fashion scenes of Bangkok and the region. Julien Macdonald OBE, studied fashion knitwear at the University of Brighton and received his MA at the Royal College of Art in London. Soon after the success of his RCA graduation show in 1996, his talent caught the attention of Karl Lagerfield at Chanel and he was appointed head designer of knitwear at Chanel as well as for the iconic designer’s eponymous label Lagerfield from 1996 to 1998. Macdonald launched his own label in 1997 with ‘Mermaids’ a static presentation of his designs styled by Isabella Blow and there began his reputation as a leading British fashion designer whose high octane and glamorous designs were soon to be coveted by international stars such as Kate Beckinsale, Beyonce, Kristen Stewart, Heidi Klum, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Naomi Campbell, Jennfer Lopez and Taylor Swift to name but a few.
