The designer teamed up with KAWS for the show and used Christian Dior himself as inspiration.
The Dior Spring/Summer 2019 show was one of the biggest events on the calendar after Kim Jones was named artistic director at Dior Men (yes, the ‘Homme’ brandname was quickly taken off when Jones started earlier this March). Then when David Beckham gave the world a first look into Kim Jones’ Dior at the royal wedding, the anticipation grew. The day came and crowds of celebrities took over Garde Républicaine in Paris, but design wise, Jones delivered – and quite spectacularly well, leaning into the archives and taking inspiration from Monsieur Dior himself. Here, Jones explains his strategy and just how the collection came to be.
