When they said technology was the future, they weren’t kidding. At least that is where the fashion industry seems to be heading to. It was only a matter of time before Louis Vuitton embraced this, with Virgil Abloh’s appointment as the brands's artistic director of menswear in March last year. His background as a DJ and music producer no doubt played a role in Louis Vuitton entrance into the audio market with the release of the LV Horizon Earphones 2019.

The collection of unique wireless earphones is inspired by the House’s visual universe and comes in four colourways: black, white and red Monogram or yellow and blue LV stripes. The Horizon Earphones deliver impeccable sound thanks to a precise system developed by audio specialist Master & Dynamic. The earphones feature 3.5 hours of listening time on a single charge and an intuitive touch control element. The volume is adjusted directly on one of the earphones, giving you the freedom to communicate and listen to playlists on the go, making them ideal for both everyday commutes and longer journeys. It connects to devices via Bluetooth and works seamlessly with the soon-to-be released LV Tambour Horizon smartwatch. Additionally, the Horizon Earphones charging case provides the earphones with a total of 20 hours of battery life.

This is yet another step of the French fashion label heading into the streetwear direction. Abloh's predecessor Kim Jones also brought streetwear’s love of collaboration to high fashion, resulting in the Supreme X Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2017 collection. This is perhaps Louis Vuitton’s way of appealing to Gen Z in a new era of luxury. For eager LV fans with a penchant for logomania, you may have to wait a little longer. The earphones and connected watch will only drop in Malaysian stores at a later date so keep an ear out.
