If you think that the streetwear hype is passé, think again—more and more luxury brands have been jumping onto the sneakers bandwagon and creating their own unique takes. From Saint Laurent's deliberately distressed SL24 sneakers to Tod's No_Code, we now have Ermenegildo Zegna with 'My Claudio'.
The chunky, threaded sneakers caught our eyes on the runway of Ermenegildo Zegna XXX's spring/summer 2020 collection in Milan. The mash-up between luxury tailoring and sportswear was evident, as we saw iterations of My Claudio paired with layers of suits and artistic director Alessandro Sartori's sports-inspired leanings.
While the chunky sneakers may look heavy and thus, potentially uncomfortable to wear, it's really just an illusion—the My Claudio sneakers are constructed to be incredibly light. My Claudio's signature hand-threaded laces echo the Italian fashion house's fine craftsmanship. The soles of the sneakers, on the other hand, make use of Ermenegildo Zegna's XXX iconography that Sartori has cleverly defined to be a leitmotif for the house since his first collection during autumn/winter 2017.
Now the important stuff: the personalisation. My Claudio can be personalised in Ermenegildo Zegna boutiques with a choice of 12 colours of laces, 10 colour options of smooth calf leathers, and three different coloured midsoles, to create a sneaker that speaks to your personality and style. We recommend going for a neutral tone if you wish to make your pair of My Claudio extra versatile. But hey, go all out and find a combination that works for you because that is the point after all.
