If you've ever had The Fear™, you'll know exactly what we're talking about. That feeling of dread when you accidentally send a message to the wrong person (usually about them), an inappropriate drunken text or clicking send before you've had a chance to take out the glaringly obvious typo.
But luckily for us, WhatsApp aren't the only ones considering a 'recall message' function, but are actually behind in the game - because Instagram already have an unsend DM feature.
Hold down the message you'd like to delete
So if you've ever sent an embarrassing message, or one that you just wish didn't exist any more, over Instagram's Direct Message function, your life is about to change for the better.
To unsend a message you've sent over Instagram:
- Tap in the top-right corner of Feed
- Select the conversation and go to the message you'd like to unsend
- Tap and hold on the message, and then select Unsend
Click 'Unsend' if you want to delete the message permanently
The bad news is, this doesn't necessarily mean the person you're messaging won't be able to see the message - if they've already read it, annoyingly Instagram haven't developed a way to erase their memory too (yet).
The good news, though, is that if they haven't read your message yet? It will no longer exist. Hooray!
