Malaysia won its first medal three days into the Rio 2016 Olympics with homegirls, Pandelela Rinong and Cheong Jun Hoong taking home the silver for 10m platform synchronised diving.

Maintaining a second placing throughout the five rounds, Pandelela and Cheong scored a total of 344.34 points, only 10.34 points behind China's Chen Ruolin and Liu Huixia who took home the gold with a total 354.00 points. Canada's Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion took the third place bronze with 336.18 points.

Apart from being our first medalist for Rio 2016, Pandelela and Cheong are also the first pair of Malaysian women to win an Olympic medal and it's also Cheong's first Olympic Medal as Pandelela took home the bronze during London 2012's 10m platform diving.

Both girls will be competing in the 10m platform individual on August 17 while Cheong will also be competing in the 3m springboard on Friday.

And finally, we just want to say we're proud of you girls! Keep it up Team Malaysia!
