This Star Wars Casting News Might Change The Way You Interpret Rogue One
SPOILERS AHEAD, obviously.

Seeing as the following post is about the possibility of a Star Wars character appearing in subsequent Star Wars movies, it will indeed contain plot details about Rogue One, which is currently in theatres.
So, if you haven't seen Rogue One yet, I'm telling you to stop reading RIGHT NOW.
The spoiler is coming immediately after this trailer.
There's still time to leave the page.
Alright, so now that I'm only communicating with people who have seen Rogue One, I can say this: Everyone dies in the movie. All of 'em. Every single person you saw on the poster. All the stars. Felicity Jones. Diego Luna. Mads Mikkelsen. Donnie Yen. Forest Whitaker. The robot. Literally all of them. It's a bloodbath. There will not be a Rogue One 2 (thankfully for title reasons), which Disney has confirmed.
So, you probably wouldn't think that you'd see any of these stars in the Star Wars universe again. They all get totally vaporised by the Death Star! But, The Hollywood Reporter pointed out today that Jones might return to a galaxy far, far away.
Jones has one sequel option in her contract, according to sources. How it will be used remains a mystery, with speculation surrounding perhaps a young Luke Skywalker stand-alone in the future.
It could be a movie that takes place chronologically before Rogue One. Or, maybe she didn't die in that massive Death Star apocalypse. You never know. A ship swooped down and picked her up. She's a part machine-type person. Or, maybe when they made her contract they planned on letting Jyn live and in reshoots they decided to kill her character.
More important, Jones reportedly made great money to play Jyn Erso in Rogue One—far more than any of her male co-stars in fact. That, along with the diversity of the cast, really makes Rogue One the best blockbuster of the year.
