Outrage The Cage

The Nic Cage Rage Page dares you.

Nicolas Cage’s shelf life as a meme has been given a heady snort of brown brown with the Nic Cage Rage Page, which dares to outrage the Cage.

“Every day you look in the mirror,” the site says. “You look and wonder: how Cage am I? When push comes to shove, when sh*t hits the fan, could you do it? Could you Rage Like Cage?”

You probably can’t. Nothing personal, just a statement of fact, because nobody can. But you’re still welcome to try. Hit the button, wait for the timer to count down, and rage. Not just your garden vareity Wicker Man freakout, but Zandalee level bastsh*t.

Fun as it is, it does feel like this site forsakes zeit for geist.

After all, we live in a time when Cage’s semi-return to normalcy—starring alongside Willem Dafoe in a movie directed by Paul Schrader (screenwriter on Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and The Last Temptation of Christ), based on a book by Edward Bunker—has been met not with plaudits, but dull shrugs.

Even the IMDb page of the Larry Charles-directed (Seinfeld, Borat) Army of One, in which Cage’s character attempts to hunt down Osama bin Laden, is suspiciously empty, despite being scheduled for a 2016 release.

Has the world really had enough of Cage? It’s enough to drive you to despair.
