After a car crash of a first season that saw ratings tumble to an all-time low, Chris Evans has announced that he is quitting Top Gear.
Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that's not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best.— Chris Evans (@achrisevans) July 4, 2016
Chris Evans has resigned from 'Top Gear' saying he gave it his best shot but "sometimes that's not enough"— Sky News Newsdesk (@SkyNewsBreak) July 4, 2016
Having attracted less than two million viewers for the latest episode—as well as a constant stream of derision from fans due to his his irritating presenting style and penchant for yellow T-shirts—it would appear that Evans has finally had enough.
It's yet to be seen who the BBC will choose as their next resident car bore, but surely they can't do much worse?... Can they?
