After 13 goal-slathered years at Old Trafford, Wayne Rooney could finally be bowing out of English football.

And if The Mirror is to be believed, the England captain could soon be plying his trade in the Chinese Super League - and earning £900,000-a-week pay packet while he does it, too.

Rooney, 31, earned criticism at the start of the season for his poor form and, despite finally breaking the Manchester United's goalscoring record and picking up an impressive number of assists, looks to be out of Jose Mourinho's plans for next season.

According to The Mirror, a number of clubs are prepared to offer Rooney a £140 million three-year contract. The striker also has 18-months to run on his contract, so United will be able to demand a good fee as well.

As a player, he'll leave a muddled legacy. Hyped as the saviour of the national team before he could even grow a proper mustache, Rooney's great achievements will always look unimpressive in the shadow of what might have been.
