As natural phenomena go, a solar eclipse is one that can truly awe. And with a partial, but substantial, one visible across Malaysia due to take place on March 9, 2016, you will want to know when to turn your attention skywards. Allow us to explain…

What day is it happening?
Wednesday, March 9, 2016.

What time?
Based on being in Malaysia, the key times are:

Starts: 07.24AM
Maximum coverage: 08.23AM
Ends: 09.31AM

Can I look directly at it?
Nothe sun can scorch your retina and cause permanent damage. Sunglasses won’t do the trick either, though welder’s glass (number 14) can be used. Alternatively, you could build a pinhole viewing box, directions for which are in the video below.

Anything else?
If you are taking pictures of the eclipse itself, people watching the eclipse (please, not with your naked eye) or your city/kampung in that eerie gloom, hashtag us so we can all bask in the beauty of your images #esquireMY
