Forget pills, fry ups or the hair of the dog. The best way to cure a hangover has arrived—in the form of ice cream.
A Korean convenience store has just started stocking the Gyeondyo-bar, which literally means 'hang in there'. The ice cream bar contains oriental raisin tree fruit juice, which has been used as a hangover cure in Korea since the 17th century. There was no proof that this worked until a study in 2012 discovered the potion reduced intoxication in rats.
The ice-cream is welcome news for Koreans who are known to love a drink and according to a report by WHO, consume 12.3 liters of alcohol per year - the most in Asia-Pacific. Some famous beverages include the Soju, a strong liquor drunken neat or as a poktanju, a Korean bomb shot using Soju and beer mixed together.
