While clicking around an online forum, we noticed a thread that piqued our interest, entitled ‘What is the greatest live vocal performance of all time?’ Mildly interested, we clicked and were surprised to see the same name and same concert being mentioned over and over again, with people suggesting that it just wasn’t worth debating (because this performance was so good, it could never be bettered).
The performance? Queen, Live Aid, Wembley, 1985.
While we may not be the biggest fans of Queen, this is undoubtedly a performance of pure electricity where Freddie Mercury, for 24 glorious minutes, had 100,000 people – nay, the entire TV-watching world – in the palm of his hand.
So, the greatest live vocal performance of all time? Maybe you know better...
