Long one of Britain's most respected menswear brands, Alfred Dunhill has garnered a wider, more fashion-forward following over the past few seasons thanks to the handiwork of creative director John Ray. Sadly, it was recently announced that Mr Ray is leaving Dunhill for pastures new, but solace can be found in the fact that pieces from Spring/Summer 2016—his best collection in our opinion—are now available to buy online at Dunhill's new e-commerce store.
The collection is a perfect example of Dunhill's ethos—one that centres on masculine style and gentlemanly pursuits, such as motor racing, something the brand has been synonymous with throughout its 122-year history. The new blousons, for example, are inspired by the idea of the gentleman racers of old men—such as Mike Hawthorn, Britain's first F1 champion in 1958, or Freddie March, the father of Goodwood—who wouldn't dare take to the track without first dressing in collar and tie.
We love how Dunhill has reinjected an air of traditional British whimsy (yep, whimsy) back into the modern menswear vernacular, something it may have been lacking for a while now. If the blouson isn't for you, then we'd go for one of the thick candy-striped rugby shirts, which are much cooler and more luxurious than they sound.
