Tom Hanks Once Again Proves He's The Coolest Guy In Hollywood

He's killing it in a monochromatic look.

Tom Hanks is generally known to be a cool guy. The kind of guy who photobombs strangers' wedding photos and helps college students get their lost IDs back. But he's kind of like our generation's Jimmy Stewart—the type of dude you'd love to grab a beer with, but who wouldn't necessarily be your first pick to take on drunken brawlers while grabbing said beer.

Based on Hanks' recent outfit while stepping out in Germany to support Inferno, however, it might be time to reevaluate that conclusion. With simple black jeans, a black button-front shirt, and a killer black suede jacket, the two-time Oscar winner looks like a bonafide badass.

In fact, when he tops it all off with those classic black-framed glasses, he kind of looks like a guy hired by some black-ops organisation to carry out a particularly difficult hit. (You know... in a good way.)

Generally, we're firmly anti-black dress shirt. But Hanks pulls it off because he mixes textures well, while also keeping things relatively casual. If you're going for all black, you don't want it to be too flat or too formal—a black suit and dress shirt may have worked for Johnny Cash, but that's because he was Johnny Cash.

Instead, you should do what Hanks does here and mix black suede, denim, and cotton. It will keep you from washing out your monochromatic look. Plus, it'll ensure that you don't look like you're on your way to a funeral.

Just a simple style trick and he goes from national treasure to the guy who is hired to protect our national treasures. Well played, Hanks.
