There are few designers in this world who inspire the level of devotion among fans that Raf Simons does. If you love menswear, or just beauty and innovation in clothing in general, then Simons' namesake brand is likely your holy grail. Well, take a deep breath, because we have some seriously mindblowing news for you: Raf is coming to New York Fashion Week: Men's
The lineup for the January 30-February 2 men's shows was released today by the CFDA, and Raf Simons' name was on it. He'll show his eponymous menswear collection on February 1 in New York City at a location to be named later.
"The CFDA is delighted to add Raf Simons to NYFW: Men's," Steven Kolb, the President and CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), said in a statement. "Raf is one of the most influential designers on the international fashion stage. His creativity and energy are a welcome addition as we continue to grow this important platform for American menswear."
This is maybe not the most surprising bit of news—Simons was named Chief Creative Officer of Calvin Klein last August and will show his first collection for that brand at New York Fashion Week as well—but it's certainly the most welcome.
Since establishing his namesake brand back in 1995, Simons has always shown his collections in Europe, so this will be the first time we get to see the Belgian designer's work here on these shores. Needless to say, it's a serious boon for NYFW: Men's, as Simons is one of the most highly regarded and influential designers on the planet right now.
Mark your calendars. February in New York is bringing some serious heat.
