California style is having a major moment. From the laid-back surfer aesthetic (heavy on the bright colors and easy on the fabrics) to the modernized streetwear that's become a staple in recent seasons, there's just something about the West Coast that's resonating throughout the world of men's style.
The folks over at Mr Porter thought so, too: Today, the site dropped Made in California, its biggest capsule collection to date. The collection is made up of 146 pieces from 12 brands, including Rick Owens, James Perse, and Stussy. Eight of the brands are Mr Porter staples, and the site is bringing on four more in tandem with the launch (Amiri, Second/Layer, Golden Bear, and Noon Goons, to be specific).
"Whether it be the resurgence of outdoor style from the spotlight on Northern California or the rock 'n' roll, ripped trend we're seeing that's come out of L.A., all roads are leading toward Californian style at the moment," says Sam Lobban, buying manager for Mr Porter. "This collection represents all different facets of that style."
Some standout pieces from the collaboration include: a flamingo-embossed banded polo from Second/Layer; an electric blue corduroy jacket from Noon Goons; and a floral short sleeve button-down from Stussy. Each of the pieces feels both true to its respective brand, and in-line with the California lifestyle. Whether or not you're a West Coaster is irrelevant here—this collection is just plain cool, no matter where you live.
Here are a few of our favorite pieces to get you started:
