Top Gear Fans Have Found A New Reason To Hate Chris Evans

Who knew petrol heads had such discerning taste?

The slow, painful public execution of Chris Evans for the crime of not being Jeremy Clarkson continued apace this week, with viewers finding a new reason to dislike the Top Gear presenter.

Turns out that in addition to being hard of hearing and not nearly funny enough, the 50-year-old has had the audacity to wear the same outfit for five weeks in a row: specifically, a slightly tatty navy knit over a yellow t-shirt.

Actually, as the Metro pointed out, this isn't strictly true – for episode two Evans swapped the yellow t-shirt for a white one – but broadly speaking the disgruntled viewers are right.

What surprises us is that Top Gear fans – who spent the best part of 20 years idolising a man talking about 'super cars' while wearing cheap jeans, ill-fitting chequered shirts and bad leather jackets – are suddenly casting themselves as arbiters of style.

In any case, by wearing the same clothes all the time Evans is merely following a lead set by Steve Jobs, Stanley Kubrick and Andy Warhol – as Esquire has investigated before.

All power to him, we say. And at least it's not that green leather jacket.
