Visiting Monte Carlo for the Grand Prix this weekend? We asked the man behind some of motorsports most glamorous events, Carl Gurdjian of PHG UK to tell us his favourite spots in the principality.

1. Jack Monaco

“The first one should be Jack, which is just under the pitlane. This is the first place that I went to have a drink with my friend Lucas (di Grassi).”

(Tip: Located right next to the iconic La Rascasse corner, they offer happy hour drinks and aperitifs. They make good pizza and burgers too.)

2. Bagatelle Monte Carlo

“If you want to go at night, head to the new Bagatelle restaurant which was originally created back in New York City and they just opened here.”

(Tip: Part of the popular chain of restaurants, the one in Monte Carlo just officially launched earlier this month and is bound to be the next popular locations for locals and tourists.)

3. Sass Café

“You also have to try Sass Café which is very famous, but this is more for after dinner drinks or if you’re staying out late into the night.”

(Tip: Come in your Sunday best. You also might be able to spot an A-lister or two. Previous customers include Catherine Zeta-Jones, Will Smith, Beyonce and Jay-Z.)

4. Le Bouchon

“The French restaurant, Le Bouchon is great! I just went for dinner there a couple of nights ago. It’s very, very nice!”

(Tip: Despite the very French name, this restaurant/ bistro is also known for its American cuisine and offers a hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner menu.)

5. Buddha Bar

“For cocktails, head to Buddha Bar which is right next to the Casino.”

(Tip: A laid back bar set in a 20th century concert hall. Mostly filled with tourist types but are best known for their signature cocktails which tend to be cheaper during weekday happy hours.)

6. La Cipriani

“If you like Italian food, you have to go to La Cipriani!”

(Tip: Located near the iconic Mirabeau corner, the restaurant offers fine views of the racetrack. Get ready to splurge a lavish amount, though.)
