West End's Ramin Karimloo is back

West End singing sensation Ramin Karimloo, along with one of Australia’s best selling classical artists, Annalisa Kerrigan, will be taking centre stage at JW Marriott for two nights of musical bliss. Fans of Andrew Lloyd-Webber will indulge in cocktails, an exquisite four-course meal and the main event - performances by musicians of a calibre that Malaysia rarely get the chance to experience.

An Evening with the Phantom will see the handsome Iranian-born Canadian actor and singer Karimloo (who Esquire featured in a shoot last June, producing the snazzy picture you see above) perform much-loved songs from Lloyd-Webber’s celebrated musicals The Phantom of the Opera and its sequel, Love Never Dies.

Karimloo will also debut an original song from his eponymous album Ramin, released in the UK earlier this year. As an added incentive, this will be perhaps one of the last times Karimloo will perform the songs of the Phantom, as he moves to concentrate on his film and personal music career, exploring his keen passion for bluegrass, rock ’n’ roll and country music.

There cannot, however, be a Phantom without his Christine and Australian ‘barefoot’ soprano (because she likes to perform in haute couture gowns, sans shoes) will be performing as muse Christine Daae. Kerrigan has performed with the world’s best classical singers such as Luciano Pavarotti, Aled Jones and fellow Australian Yvonne Kenny. So, expect an evening of musical comfort for the soul.

An Evening with the Phantom will be held on 21 & 22 June, 2012, 7.30pm, at JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur. For more information on this musical extravaganza, visit the site here. Words by Jason Lim.
